The LIU Master of Social Work Program's specialization in Child and Family Welfare equips students for careers supporting children and families in interdisciplinary settings. Developed in collaboration with the Nassau County Department of Social Services, Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Family and Children's Association, and other community organizations, this concentration integrates essential knowledge, values, and skills for addressing diverse family challenges. Following their foundational MSW studies, second-year students deepen their expertise in child-focused policies, lifespan family violence interventions, community-based family services, and childhood mental health disorders.

A minimum overall GPA of 3.0, although candidates with lower GPA's may be considered based on overall criteria and may be offered admissions with limited matriculation on a probationary status
International students are also required to achieve a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 79 Internet-based, IELTS of 6.5 or above is also acceptable
International students are also required to submit a course by course credential evaluation completed by a member of NACES.
