The Doctor of Podiatric Medicine program equips students for careers in foot and ankle healthcare. Podiatrists are medical specialists focused on assessing, preventing, diagnosing, and treating foot conditions through various approaches including physical therapy, medication, and surgical procedures. These foot care experts receive training to identify early symptoms of whole-body illnesses that often manifest in the lower limbs, such as diabetes or vascular problems. Upon detecting such conditions, podiatrists collaborate with primary care physicians to manage the underlying systemic disease.
Podiatric medicine offers diverse practice opportunities spanning general care, surgical interventions, bone and joint treatments, athletic injury management, elderly patient care, and children's foot health.
