This groundbreaking four-year program—the first of its kind in the United States—allows students to obtain both a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Science in Population Medicine.
Designed to educate physicians who can treat individual patients while also considering community health, the Primary Care-Population Medicine program explores the U.S. healthcare system in depth and includes thesis research, culminating in dual M.D. and Sc.M. degrees. PC-PM is ideal for aspiring doctors who seek to comprehend and transform healthcare systems through their medical practice.
What distinguishes this program is its Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship, which replaces conventional third-year rotations. Participants dedicate half a day weekly for multiple months to physician mentors while tracking 30 patients across different healthcare environments. This approach fosters deeper understanding of patient perspectives and advocacy skills. Many students report that experiencing diverse outpatient settings, rather than just hospital rotations, helped them develop lasting professional and patient relationships.
