A Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Special Education equips students for careers as intervention specialists (commonly known as special education teachers) or professionals supporting individuals with disabilities outside traditional school environments.

These educators work with students facing various challenges, such as learning differences, emotional/behavioral disorders, attention deficit disorders, cognitive impairments, autism spectrum conditions, hearing difficulties, and multiple disabilities.

Special education professionals may collaborate with mainstream teachers in inclusive classrooms, provide targeted instruction in small group settings, or deliver individualized education in specialized programs tailored for students with unique needs. Those pursuing this degree who prefer non-teaching roles often find opportunities supporting teens and adults with disabilities through community programs, residential services, or career training initiatives.
