Baltimore boasts a deep jazz legacy, particularly at the Peabody Conservatory where the Jazz Studies Department began in 2001. Currently, Peabody Jazz focuses on hands-on education while linking students to accomplished performers among the faculty and global jazz scene. Beyond classroom and studio training, students gain practical experience through diverse performance settings and Baltimore venues. The jazz program integrates with broader artistic disciplines, preparing students with contemporary professional skills.
