The individual option is a tailored academic path designed to align with each student's interests and professional goals. This flexible approach enables the creation of interdisciplinary majors, like combining physics history with physics and fine arts.
Students choosing this option must fulfill the B.A. in physics core requirements while assembling a personalized program comprising at least 26 additional credits. These credits can include upper-level physics courses (numbered above 270), advanced astronomy courses (above 301), and relevant courses from related disciplines. The customized curriculum requires development in collaboration with a departmental faculty advisor and must receive approval from the advisor, department head, and an additional faculty member. Students must declare this concentration at least three semesters before graduating.
Once approved by the department and accepted by the student, this personalized program serves as the official major requirements.
