The Department of Music and Theatre provides a robust undergraduate music program, where students learn from dedicated full-time faculty in a nurturing setting that helps them reach their full potential. The program offers two music degrees: a focused bachelor of music with reduced general education requirements, and a broader bachelor of arts with a music major.
The music program features:
A complete professional curriculum for those pursuing music careers in teaching, performance, or composition, as well as students aiming for graduate music studies.
Music literature, theory, and performance courses available to all university students, irrespective of their major.
Reflecting the land-grant mission, the department serves the state through a faculty of engaged scholars, educators, and performers dedicated to outstanding teaching, creative/scholarly pursuits, and community arts engagement. The department holds accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
