The Music Department at Emory provides three specialization options for music majors: Composition, Performance, and History, Culture, and Theory. Students need to choose their specialization before junior year and complete all required courses within their chosen track to graduate with a music degree. Alongside the core music requirements, students can also pursue an Arts Management Concentration.
Because much of the music program builds on progressive skill development, the department advises students to declare their major early. Early declaration enables students to take full advantage of private instruction opportunities, as the department offers partial funding for private lessons to officially declared music majors.
