Northwestern University boasts one of the nation's most distinguished string faculties. These educators are celebrated not just for their performance skills and academic expertise, but also for their passion in nurturing young musicians through the creative journey from promising talent to skilled professional. The faculty emphasizes personal growth, helping each student develop their distinct musical voice and artistic expression.
Beyond regular private lessons, students enhance their performance skills through weekly studio classes with faculty and fellow musicians. The string program offers diverse professional courses, covering areas like orchestral string studies, historical guitar literature, teaching methodologies for guitar and harp, and more. Alongside traditional music degrees (BM, MM, DMA), the Bienen School of Music provides options for combined degree programs with other Northwestern University departments.
