The Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology is committed to advancing human well-being. Our department fosters state-of-the-art biomedical research targeting diverse medical conditions, educates future healthcare providers through progressive teaching methods, and engages in service activities that enhance Indiana University School of Medicine's academic and research landscape.
With a distinguished tradition of integrating life science disciplines such as cellular and molecular biology, genetics, biophysics, physiology, anatomical studies, histology, neuroscience, and imaging technologies, we address intricate health challenges through fundamental scientific approaches.
Our educational programs have delivered core training in anatomy and physiology to countless medical professionals, therapists, physician assistants, and researchers across academic institutions, biotechnology firms, private practices, and government/nonprofit organizations. The department's multidisciplinary faculty collaborate to create a dynamic, technologically sophisticated learning environment for medical trainees and fellows.
Indiana University School of Medicine provides Master's programs in Anatomy, Cell Biology and Physiology with three specialized pathways, equipping students for research or teaching careers, or preparing them for clinical programs like medicine, occupational therapy, or physical therapy. These standalone degrees do not serve as prerequisites for our doctoral programs in Anatomy, Cell Biology and Physiology.
