The TESOL and Applied Linguistics Certificate is a hands-on, two-semester program that prepares students to effectively teach English to adult non-native speakers. This 20-credit program demands English proficiency suitable for quality language instruction. At Indiana University, you'll learn from and collaborate with top TESOL experts. Our professors regularly present their teaching methods and research discoveries at global TESOL conferences, affiliate gatherings, and specialized events covering topics like pragmatics, international teaching assistants, formulaic language, L2 writing, teacher training, error correction, and assessment. Practical teaching opportunities include our community-based English in the Evening program (TESOL Practicum), with qualified candidates potentially teaching in our Intensive English Program and English Language Improvement Program.
