Linguistics is the scientific examination of human language, investigating its nature, mechanisms, and shared characteristics across different tongues. Our program emphasizes comprehending various linguistic components and global language systems, along with practical applications to benefit our multicultural community. The Department of Linguistics and Language Development (LLD) welcomes students from diverse ethnic and linguistic backgrounds, learning under faculty with national and international reputations. Our research facilities feature cutting-edge technology, including a modern computer lab, phonology lab, and digital language databases. Around one-quarter of our student population hails from abroad, significantly enriching our academic environment.
U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited, and approved institution from a country outside of the U.S. A 2.5 GPA (from the 0.0-4.0 U.S. grading scale) in the last degree completed or a 2.5 GPA in the last two years of full-time study.
