The Gender Studies B.A. program challenges students to critically examine gender's role in global societies. Core curriculum examines gender construction and significance across diverse cultures and social structures, while investigating its impact on institutions, behaviors, representations, and knowledge systems. Courses may also explore how gender intersects with structural oppression and differences related to race, indigeneity, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation. Learners develop academic expertise about historical and contemporary experiences of all genders, frequently with opportunities to design and conduct independent research initiatives.
