The Master of Science in Food Process Engineering equips students with comprehensive knowledge of food processing, covering engineering fundamentals, process design, biotechnology applications, and quality control statistics. Graduates are prepared for research roles in the food industry or advanced academic pursuits like a Ph.D. in food science.

An exclusive partnership between Illinois Tech and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration at the Moffett Campus offers master's students specialized research collaboration with FDA experts. Thesis projects deliver practical experience in essential food processing methods and exploration of cutting-edge technologies like high-pressure systems, cold plasma, pulsed light, and microwave pasteurization. These research findings enhance food processing science and may inform policy decisions by the FDA and other regulatory bodies.
