The Department of Mathematics and Statistics boasts a skilled, research-driven faculty dedicated to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and community engagement. We strive to deliver top-tier education in pure and applied mathematics as well as statistics through classroom instruction while serving our university, local community, and professional fields. A key initiative includes our Early College Program, which enables high school students to take college-level math courses and earn university credits before enrollment.
Our curriculum features mathematics courses that fulfill ISU's general education requirements alongside specialized coursework for future educators, physicists, engineers, healthcare professionals, computer scientists, biologists, and business students. We actively promote hands-on learning through undergraduate research projects, mathematical modeling contests, STEM initiatives, and participation in our vibrant Math Club. These experiences help students build practical skills, gain professional preparation, and develop strong foundations for either career advancement or graduate studies.
