Provides a foundation in economic theory along with mathematical techniques for analyzing and expanding theoretical frameworks. Starting in 2013-14, this specialization will be officially renamed Mathematics-Economics. The focus remains on abstract theoretical concepts. Similar to the Applied Math-Economics track, this program also equips students for advanced economics studies at the graduate level. Students graduating through 2015 are strongly encouraged to complete an honors thesis or undertake a culminating research project.
Students should complete secondary school. Brown first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling.
A TOEFL score of 100 or above on the internet-based exam, or 600 or above on the paper-based exam, or a score of 8.0 or above on the IELTS, is expected in most cases.
