The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures provides an extensive program covering literary and cultural studies, incorporating film and music. Students can specialize in German Studies, Scandinavian Studies, or combine either with another discipline. Our aim is to immerse students in exploring foreign languages, literatures, and cultures to broaden their understanding of their own backgrounds. Additionally, students will discover how German-speaking and Nordic nations have shaped Western civilization. Mastering German or a Scandinavian language equips students with valuable, enduring skills applicable across various professions. This program caters both to those pursuing advanced Germanic studies and those entering medicine, law, public service, science, commerce, creative industries, design, and other career paths.
