This program offers students a comprehensive foundation in liberal arts and sciences, supplemented by specialized coursework in a chosen Area of Emphasis. It serves as an excellent pathway for those aiming to transfer to California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC) systems, as it fulfills general education requirements while providing transferable credits aligned with bachelor's degree programs at these institutions. Since transfer requirements differ across universities, students should consult with a GWC Counselor when selecting emphasis area courses.
Every course in this major transfers to CSU campuses, with most also accepted by UC institutions. With proper course selection, students can meet major preparation standards for degrees in Human Services, Social Services, Behavioral Sciences, and similar disciplines.
