Students pursuing the Juris Doctor and Master of Arts in Arab Studies dual degree (J.D./M.A.A.S.) must fulfill all requirements for both programs. Upon successful completion, they receive both degrees along with a Joint Program Certificate. This four-year curriculum requires at least 109 credits, combining 79 law credits and 30 M.A.A.S. credits, with 6 credits from each program counting toward the other. For the initial two years, participants must focus their coursework exclusively at either the Law Center or Main Campus per semester; cross-campus registration only becomes available in years three and four. Additionally, candidates must prove advanced Arabic proficiency by passing the M.A.A.S. language exams and must complete either the program's oral comprehensive examination or the thesis option.
