Digital forensics is a field focused on gathering, handling, and examining digital information to confirm or validate occurrences relevant to investigations, intelligence operations, cybersecurity, or business concerns. This data may originate from physical storage, mobile devices, live network activity, IoT systems, unidentified software, memory, cloud platforms, and numerous other channels. Being inherently multidisciplinary, digital forensics incorporates elements of computer engineering, computer science, IT, legal studies, and ethics. It plays a vital role in criminal cases, corporate affairs, civil disputes, cyber defense, incident handling, intelligence gathering, and counter-terrorism efforts.

In recent years, as digital storage, transmission, and processing of confidential data have expanded, so too has the misuse of digital technologies. Such misuse encompasses digital blackmail, system breaches, corporate spying, child abuse material, online offenses, financial deception, terrorist activities, and personal data theft. Consequently, digital forensics has emerged as a critical profession supporting both government and private organizations. The Master's program in Digital Forensics equips students for diverse career paths in law enforcement, government agencies, incident management, and cybersecurity domains by blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on methodologies, while providing specialized instruction in digital evidence examination, intrusion analysis, reverse engineering, network forensics, and legal/ethical considerations.
