The entomology program provides both MS and PhD degree options. Graduate students will work closely with an advisor from the Entomology Graduate Faculty to pursue original research across various specializations. Thesis and dissertation projects may focus on any of these research domains. The curriculum includes coursework in biological pest and weed control, insect ecology, insect physiology, plant pathogen transmission by insects, systematics, phylogenetics, as well as specialized topics in genomics, conservation, and pest management.
Prospective graduate students should hold a bachelor's degree with coursework in entomology and biology, covering general biology, introductory entomology, integrated pest management, one year of chemistry, plus relevant mathematics or statistics classes. Any gaps in undergraduate preparation can be addressed during graduate studies.
