The Real Estate and Economic Development specialization explores how public sector initiatives and urban planning approaches can stimulate private investment for sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Our goal is to craft and execute development strategies that improve living standards for current and future residents.
Students in this program will gain: the expertise to become planners, policy consultants, and economic development professionals who assist communities in job creation, business attraction, and fostering innovation through social capital building,
core principles of land development and their application in promoting socially conscious projects like affordable housing and mixed-use developments,
strategic negotiation techniques for public-private partnerships, community-led initiatives, and private development ventures to optimize public value,
methods for performing planning assessments, developing data-driven economic and housing strategies, and adapting these approaches across diverse political and cultural contexts,
collaborative skills to work alongside urban design, transportation, and environmental planning experts to support local development objectives.
These competencies will be valuable in both national and international environments, equipping graduates for diverse, fulfilling career paths in the worldwide employment landscape.

The minimum university criterion to be considered for admission to graduate school is an upper division grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher for previous undergraduate study.
