Our seven Master of Laws (LL.M.) programs concentrate on key contemporary legal fields for advanced study. Tailored for both international legal professionals and U.S. graduates with Juris Doctor degrees, UW Law's LL.M. curriculum enables legal experts to enhance their expertise and broaden their skills. Learners benefit from UW Law's Seattle setting, immersing themselves in the city's practical educational atmosphere while joining initiatives that nurture tomorrow's legal leaders. Offering six focused concentrations plus a flexible General LL.M. option, participants customize their academic path to align with career aspirations. After completing foundational coursework, students enrich their education through diverse advanced electives spanning multiple disciplines, with opportunities to enroll in courses across UW's other schools. The Sustainable Development LL.M. at UW Law equips legal practitioners with strategies to drive societal transformation and environmental stewardship. This program focuses on advancing human rights, strengthening legal frameworks, fostering sustainable economic progress, and conserving ecological resources for coming generations.
First degree in law (e.g., J.D., LL.B.); preferably 2 years work experience.
We generally prefer LL.M. applicants to have had some professional work experience.
