The Learning Sciences and Human Development graduate program examines how learning, growth, and cultural influences interact across various environments. Our research explores these processes in real-world contexts - from homes and neighborhoods to educational institutions and professional settings spanning early childhood through higher education.
As an interdisciplinary team, we operate at multiple levels (local to global) with a common dedication to equity. Our methodologies range from ethnographic studies to experimental designs, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
While our methods vary, we share a fundamental commitment to applying research findings to enhance lives in tangible ways. Students engage in cutting-edge investigations on these topics, with projects supported by diverse funding streams including government grants and private foundations.
