Our department's research covers all fundamental chemistry fields (Analytical, Biochemistry, Inorganic, Materials, Organic, and Physical) while promoting a strongly collaborative, interdisciplinary approach focused on Health Chemistry, Advanced Measurement & Analysis, and Energy & Materials Chemistry. Prospective students should review faculty research specialties in their preferred area to find suitable laboratories for their studies. We recommend direct communication between applicants and faculty members to discuss shared research interests and training possibilities.
The thesis-based program aims to give students advanced chemistry knowledge and hands-on research experience. After choosing a primary research advisor, students form a guidance committee led by this advisor. This committee designs a personalized study plan meeting university and college requirements, including at least eighteen credit hours of graded coursework and three hours of graded directed individual study (DIS). The course-focused program offers rigorous technical training with reduced research requirements, mandating that twenty-one of the thirty-two required credit hours be letter-graded courses at the 4000 level or higher.
