The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry provides a graduate program culminating in a Master of Science degree. This curriculum combines rigorous coursework with research opportunities, equipping students for either continued academic pursuits or professional careers requiring advanced qualifications. Specialization areas encompass: analytical chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, inorganic chemistry, materials chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry.
Non-Thesis Track
Students selecting the Non-Thesis Track must, by the conclusion of their first year, consult with chemistry faculty to select an independent study mentor. These students will collaborate with their advisor to define an independent research project. After completing their project, non-thesis candidates must produce a formal Independent Study Report approved by both their advisor and the Graduate Studies Committee, followed by successfully defending their work in an oral examination.
