This program is tailored for students possessing a bachelor's degree in chemistry, which must include one year of calculus-based physical chemistry. Candidates with extensive academic preparation (such as ACS-certified bachelor's degrees or post-baccalaureate experience) might qualify for certain course waivers, though the 30-credit graduation requirement remains unchanged. Such individuals should consult with the chemistry graduate advisor. A minimum of 24 credits must be at the 600 level.
Applicants with strong chemistry foundations but undergraduate degrees in related fields like biology, medical technology, or pre-health programs may enroll in graduate courses while completing undergraduate prerequisites. Note that remedial undergraduate courses don't count toward graduate credit requirements. Prospective students should consult the chemistry graduate advisor to assess their readiness for graduate-level chemistry studies.
