The department provides a five-year integrated bachelor's/master's program culminating in both a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Master of Science (MS). This accelerated pathway aims to prepare engineers for professional industry roles through full-time study over five years. Students start graduate-level core courses in their fourth year. Completing the fourth year fulfills university requirements for the BS degree, offering flexibility if a student cannot proceed to the fifth year. The program also features a Summer industry internship between the fourth and fifth years.
The former BS-MS program is now designated as the BSplus1 MS Professional Traineeship track within the ME MS (Non-thesis Option):
Students complete two extra graduate courses during their senior year (with no double-counting) to transfer toward the graduate degree (6 Credit Hours (CHs)). A mandatory summer internship in industry or approved research labs is required, along with an internship course (3 CHs). Upon returning, students take two sponsored project courses (with industry or research lab partners - 6 CHs) and five additional graduate courses (15 CHs) to earn their master's degree in two semesters.
