Mechanical engineering focuses on creating, developing, and producing machinery and equipment that transfer power or transform thermal energy into mechanical energy to drive contemporary society and its devices. Recent progress in computer technology and software has significantly shaped its modern application.
Mechanical engineers utilize computers to draft initial and final system or device plans, conduct calculations forecasting design performance, and gather and assess data from system tests or operations.
Historically, mechanical engineers have been responsible for designing and evaluating equipment like heating and cooling systems, machine tools, internal combustion engines, and steam power facilities. In the present day, they also lead in advancing novel technologies across diverse sectors—including energy transformation, solar power application, environmental management, robotics, artificial limbs, transportation, production processes, and the creation of innovative materials.
