During this two-year program, students in Gallatin College MSU's Drafting & CAD Technology program develop the essential skills for entry-level drafting positions in the design and drafting field. They utilize computer-based systems to generate technical illustrations for manufacturing, production, and construction applications. Often referred to as CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) technicians, students learn to create practical design concepts that can be implemented in real-world scenarios. Through CAD software, students conduct calculations, build simulations, and adjust and refine displayed materials. While drafters typically spend significant time at computer workstations, students also receive training in traditional drafting methods, which involves producing manual drawings at drafting tables. The Drafting & CAD Technology program is offered through Gallatin College MSU, the two-year college serving southwest Montana.
