Dietetics stands as one of four bachelor's degree options in the Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences. This specialized program gives students distinctive exposure to both sports nutrition and clinical dietary practices. The dietetics curriculum aims to deliver fundamental knowledge and competencies needed for the academic requirements of entry-level dietetics training. This Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) holds accreditation from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics). Students completing the DPD program receive a verification statement, qualifying them to pursue graduate studies or apply for post-baccalaureate dietetic internships. Completing an accredited dietetic internship is mandatory for those seeking to take the national dietitian registration exam. Registered dietitians can pursue diverse career paths across clinical practice, research, community nutrition, food service administration, private consulting, and academic environments.
