The program aims to cultivate scientists capable of advancing nutrition science across multiple intersecting fields, including human nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, food safety, physiology, exercise science, and community nutrition. These researchers will also focus on applying this knowledge to enhance health outcomes, disease prevention, and therapeutic approaches. PhD-trained nutrition scientists may pursue careers in research, academia, industry, public health, or clinical settings. Given today's widespread obesity and type 2 diabetes challenges, there's significant public health demand for doctoral-level nutrition experts who can develop innovative treatment strategies.
