Drexel's Bachelor of Science (BS) in Neuroscience offers an interdisciplinary approach for students fascinated by the biological foundations of cognition and behavior. This program is ideal for those pursuing careers in medicine, neurobiology, neurology, animal science, neuroengineering, or related health professions.
This collaborative initiative bridges the Department of Biology and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences, along with the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems. Our forward-thinking curriculum merges diverse disciplines, equipping students for the dynamic neuroscience landscape. The program establishes core competencies in biology, psychology, mathematics, biomedical engineering, statistics, neuroethics, and computer science.
The BS in Neuroscience is designed for students passionate about exploring how multiple scientific domains converge to advance neuroscientific understanding and its real-world implementations. While exposing students to potential careers in biology, clinical practice, psychology, cognitive science, or biomedical engineering, the program emphasizes synthesizing knowledge across these fields to study, treat, and improve neural functions in both healthy and impaired biological systems.
The Neurosystems and Computational Neuroscience concentration investigates how brain regions collaborate to process information and produce complex behaviors by analyzing neuronal groups, neural circuits, and broader brain networks. Computational neuroscience seeks to decode core principles of brain operation—including perception and memory—through combined experimental findings, theoretical frameworks, and digital modeling.
