Neuroscience explores the nervous system's structure and function. This interdisciplinary domain brings together researchers, technologists, and medical professionals to examine nervous system development, cellular processes, and the biological foundations of behavior, thought processes, mental health conditions, and neurological disorders. Comprehensive knowledge of nervous system operations requires studying both microscopic cellular interactions (taught effectively by neurobiologists) and behavioral patterns (best instructed by psychologists). Consequently, undergraduate neuroscience education is mainly delivered by faculty from LSA's Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB) and Psychology departments. The Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program is overseen by the Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience (UPiN), a joint initiative between the Psychology Department and MCDB.
