The Associate of Science in Geology transfer program at Diablo Valley College (DVC) equips students to transition to a California State University (CSU) or another four-year institution to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in geology, geological sciences, or related earth science fields. The curriculum also provides foundational knowledge for diverse professional pathways within scientific fields.
This geology transfer program requires 28 units of coursework, featuring eight geology units where students master core geological principles and gain practical lab experience. Students must also complete one year each of calculus and chemistry courses. While not mandatory for this transfer program, taking a year of physics—often required for bachelor's degrees at four-year universities—is strongly advised.
Student will qualify for admission with one of the following: a high school diploma, by passing the California Certificate of Proficiency Test or General Education Development Test (GED) or be at least 18 years old and no longer enrolled in high school.
