The Critical Ethnic Studies master's program equips students to critically examine race and ethnicity within urban and global settings. Employing an interdisciplinary, antiracist approach to analyze power structures worldwide and locally, the curriculum prioritizes social justice and systemic change while exploring U.S. ethnic and racial communities through intersectional, decolonial, transnational, international, and urban lenses. Evening core classes take place at the Lincoln Park Campus, with elective options available online or at both Lincoln Park and Loop campuses during daytime or evening hours. Students can finish this Critical Ethnic Studies master's degree within two years.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for admission students must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
All students educated outside of the United States must submit proof of their English proficiency in order to be reviewed for admission regardless of language of instruction or native language. Students holding a bachelor's, master's, or PhD from a regionally accredited United States institution will have the TOEFL requirement waived upon receipt of their U.S. transcripts. DePaul University requires that all students earn at least 80 (ibt) with no section lower than 17 on the TOEFL exam to be considered proficient.
