The CNC Machinist A.S. degree program covers the essential principles of CNC machine tools. Students gain expertise in the secure setup, modification, and operation of CNC machinery, which encompasses vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, and rotary multi-axis systems. Instruction includes dimensioning and inspecting components through diverse measurement techniques, along with analyzing manufacturing materials and procedures. Graduates are equipped for roles in manufacturing settings as CNC setup technicians and machine operators.
Upon graduation, students will have the ability to
Build and evaluate machined components using CNC equipment with word address programming
Utilize geometric dimensioning and tolerance standards to assess drawings and inspect parts via coordinate measuring machines
Distinguish and evaluate the materials and methods employed in manufacturing
Generate tool paths from both created and imported geometry using Mastercam software
Demonstrate advanced machining capabilities by undertaking independent project contracts
Students must upload an official school transcript. Students must be 18 years old to attend college. Students who are younger than 18 (but at least 16 before first day of classes) can attend with proof of secondary/high school completion or the equivalent.
