The Welding Technology Program aims to equip the local workforce with certified, proficient welders while adapting to evolving industry demands. This program trains students to handle and diagnose various welding machines and associated tools. Students learn to address challenges by applying mathematical calculations and other critical thinking methods crucial for welding and metal fabrication. Additionally, the program fosters teamwork and communication abilities vital for workplace success.
Participants master six key welding techniques: oxyacetylene (OAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), gas metal arc (GMAW), flux core arc (FCAW), submerged arc (SAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). The curriculum also covers supplementary competencies including interpreting technical drawings, metallurgy fundamentals, and the impact of thermal cycles on metal characteristics. Students explore jig and fixture design principles and their integration into automated welding setups.
