The Water Resources Planning and Management Division stands out by bridging civil engineering's water-related fields—such as hydrology, hydraulics, groundwater, and environmental engineering—with cross-disciplinary studies in economics, water law, natural sciences, mathematics, statistics, computer science, and decision science. This integration supports graduate education and collaborative research in water resources planning and management. With a focus on decision-making, the WRPM Division prioritizes applying cutting-edge computer technology, decision support systems, geographic information systems, mathematical modeling, and artificial intelligence to water and environmental systems. These methods address multifaceted challenges involving multi-facility, multi-purpose systems that require synchronized planning, management, and operations across water supply, hydropower, flood control, irrigation, wastewater treatment, water quality regulation, ecological restoration, and combined groundwater-surface water utilization.
