The undergraduate Civil Engineering program establishes a strong foundation in physical sciences, mathematics, core engineering principles, along with design and management fundamentals. The All-University Core Curriculum delivers comprehensive training in communication, liberal arts, humanities, and social studies. Beyond specialized courses in Civil Engineering subfields, the curriculum incorporates design methodologies, information technology, professional communication, project leadership, and ethical engineering practices. Students complete their studies with an intensive, year-long senior capstone design project. The program focuses on preparing students for advanced professional work. Taking the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, which is the initial requirement for Professional Engineer (PE) certification - a crucial credential for civil engineers - is strongly advised before graduation. Our Civil Engineering graduates consistently achieve FE exam pass rates well above national benchmarks.
Engaging in internships, volunteer work, professional associations, and cooperative education programs is strongly encouraged to strengthen hands-on skills and professional growth. Those continuing to graduate studies gain preparation for more advanced technical roles.
