Our Civil Engineering program emphasizes cutting-edge advancements in designing, optimizing, building, and sustaining society's infrastructure. Through classroom instruction, lab work, and internships—including opportunities to study in China and participate in global initiatives like Solar Decathlon competitions—you'll discover how the environment is engineered. By prioritizing entrepreneurship, innovation, cross-disciplinary education, and eco-friendly engineering, you'll acquire the knowledge to contribute to constructing tomorrow's infrastructure from scratch. Our country's achievements rest on a foundation of robust infrastructure, much of which was built many years ago. Currently, numerous public works projects across the United States urgently require renovation, and additional infrastructure developments are essential to maintain our competitive edge. U.S. News & World Report's most recent rankings place civil engineering at #5 and environmental engineering at #4 among the Best Engineering Jobs. The demand has never been higher for civil and environmental engineers to design, manage, and oversee these critical initiatives.

You'll explore the newest innovations in the planning, erection, and upkeep of societal infrastructure, covering everything from highways and structures to dams, bridges, and water purification facilities. Your coursework in Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Geotechnical Engineering will provide you with comprehensive knowledge in key civil engineering disciplines. Additionally, you'll study conscientious and sustainable engineering methods through topics like alternative and renewable energy and sustainable materials. Beginning in your third year, you can select a specialization in Environmental, Reservoir, or Railway Engineering.
