The Glenn Department of Civil Engineering ranks among the country's premier civil engineering programs. Civil engineering serves as a foundation for professional paths in structural engineering, construction materials engineering, construction management, geotechnical engineering, transportation systems, water resource engineering, and fluid mechanics. Students may apply certain degree requirements and elective courses to specialize in any of several designated emphasis areas. Through our Bachelor's-to-Graduate program, eligible seniors can begin their master's degree coursework early. The Glenn Department of Civil Engineering provides an ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil Engineering, enabling students to choose from seven emphasis areas to enrich their educational journey. The initial two years of the program develop proficiency in calculus, engineering mechanics, physics, and chemistry. In their junior year, students gain comprehensive exposure to core civil engineering disciplines including structures, hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, transportation, environmental engineering, construction materials, and construction engineering and management.
