The Civil Engineering Technology program is offered by Idaho State University's College of Technology. It collaborates with Idaho Career & Technical Education and has approval from the State Board of Education. Upon completion, graduates can: 1. Secure employment as professional Surveying Technicians, Drafters, Designers, or Laboratory and Field-Testing Technicians in Civil Engineering or Public Works sectors. 2. Conduct land and construction surveying using modern instruments, technologies, and computer-aided drafting systems for various projects. 3. Execute testing and inspection of construction materials and operations in both laboratory and field settings to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.

Graduates will possess these competencies - 1. The capability to utilize knowledge, techniques, skills, and contemporary tools in mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to address well-defined engineering challenges relevant to the field; 2. The ability to devise solutions for well-defined technical issues and support the engineering design of systems, components, or processes within the discipline; 3. Proficiency in written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical contexts; and the skill to locate and apply appropriate technical literature.

Qualification Requirements

Freshman applicants must submit official secondary school mark sheets and diploma. Mailed documents must be originals or copies certified by the school principal or controller of examinations and sealed in a school envelope. Documents not in English must be translated by a certified translator. Official transcripts are also accepted by email if sent directly from the school principal or registrar. Students who do not meet minimum English proficiency requirements may apply for conditional admission, during which time they will need to be enrolled in an intensive English program, such as ISU’s IEI program, in preparation for full-time academic study at ISU. Have graduated from a high school or secondary school with satisfactory grades, received a diploma or certificate of graduation, and be eligible for admission to a major university in the country from which they graduated. A C- in any Civil Engineering Technology course will allow a student to continue; however, it could prevent a student from graduating if the cumulative grade point average is less than 2.0 (a C- equals 1.7). A student must have a 2.0 GPA in the program’s required curriculum in order to be eligible for a certificate or degree.
