Aspiring educators get ready to instruct specialized subjects for high school grades 9-12 by choosing from three concentration options: English, math, or social studies/history.
While optional, the secondary education program is structured to enable you to pursue dual majors in both secondary education and your selected specialization - English, mathematical sciences, or history. Our distinguished faculty emphasize interactive, inquiry-driven instruction, rigorous subject matter preparation, continuous cross-disciplinary cooperation, and community involvement.
Program participants complete over 100 hours of fieldwork before beginning their student teaching placement.
Our 72-day teaching internship surpasses state certification mandates by 12 additional days.
The curriculum holds accreditation from prominent educational organizations including the National Council of Teachers of English, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council for the Social Studies, and Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. Through our Teacher Residency combined degree option, you can obtain both your bachelor's degree and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) within five years.
