The UNM College of Education & Human Sciences (COEHS) program is dedicated to equipping future educators to address the varied requirements of New Mexico's youth. We honor the state's vibrant cultural heritage and have tailored our coursework to accommodate these distinctive characteristics. Our secondary Education student teaching initiative serves as a dual learning experience, bridging university instruction with real-world classroom practice. We aim to seamlessly integrate academic knowledge with hands-on teaching experience under the mentorship of seasoned Cooperating Teachers.
This program develops educators capable of teaching middle and high school students, typically covering grades seven through twelve (subject to state or district policies). It offers comprehensive training for teaching either broad curricula or specialized subjects.
