The Secondary Education Program equips future educators to teach in high schools (grades 9-12). It offers specialized tracks in Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, and Comprehensive Social Studies, combining subject mastery with a well-rounded liberal arts education. The curriculum includes multiple semesters of hands-on experience in public schools, allowing candidates to apply teaching methods and materials in their chosen certification area. Those pursuing Secondary Social Studies certification will qualify to teach at the high school level. This program emphasizes core content areas - Economics, Geography, History, and Political Science - which form the basis of standard social studies curricula. Additionally, degree candidates explore supplementary disciplines like Anthropology, Psychology, and Sociology. Students must select a concentration from among History, Sociology, Psychology, or Political Science to deepen their expertise.
