Social Studies Broadfield (5-12) B.S. in Secondary Education with Social Studies Broadfield (5-12) Focus
Montana State's Social Studies Broadfield Education program prepares students for certification to teach social sciences in middle and high schools (grades 5-12). This interdisciplinary program combines geography, history, and political science classes with specialized education courses to develop effective teaching skills. Students can further enhance their qualifications by pursuing a teaching minor, expanding their ability to engage diverse learners.
Alongside the primary teaching major, students may choose from complementary minors in Economics (5-12), Government (5-12), or History (5-12).
Freshmen will be considered for admission on the basis of their secondary school record and their English proficiency. Applicants who can prove their English language proficiency and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5/4.0 on a U.S. scale will qualify for admission.

Application Deadlines Fall Semester: July 1; Spring Semester: November 15; Summer Session: March 15.
