Our Apparel Product Development and Merchandising Technology program immerses you in the forefront of fashion through innovative, technology-driven education. By exploring apparel and textiles through a dynamic, team-based curriculum, we prepare you for every stage of the fashion lifecycle - from initial concept to store shelves - while cultivating expertise in design, manufacturing, quality assessment, and technological applications.
Practical research forms the foundation of our program. Rather than simply observing industry trends, you'll collaborate directly with brands and suppliers to transform ideas into tangible products.

This could involve designing digital showrooms with Cotton Incorporated, evaluating heat-regulating materials for Lululemon using our sensor-enabled mannequins, or analyzing Polartec performance fabrics through infrared athlete monitoring.

These industry partnerships define our educational philosophy. Upon graduation, you'll possess the hands-on experience that gives you an employment advantage.
You'll develop these skills in our cutting-edge campus facilities featuring rare technologies. We maintain Michigan's sole academic 3D body scanning system and were the Midwest's first public university with a dedicated MakerBot 3D Printing Innovation Center.
While technology plays a crucial role, our human connections matter most. Our seasoned instructors will equip you for leadership roles in apparel/textile production, retail buying, or graduate-level studies.
