The Gender and Sexuality Studies certificate program enables students to analyze how societal perceptions of gender and sexuality influence personal experiences, communities, institutions, and broader social frameworks. Participants will investigate topics ranging from personal growth and interpersonal relationships to larger systems like media, arts, economics, and politics. The curriculum emphasizes how gender and sexuality interact with factors like race, cultural background, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status to promote equitable outcomes.
Both degree-seeking and extended education students can earn certificates by completing structured programs that:
develop specific professional or career-related skills, or
demonstrate comprehensive knowledge within a specialized academic area, or
offer broad exposure to subjects in established or emerging interdisciplinary domains.
Some certificate programs include graduate-level (600) courses that are unavailable to undergraduate students. Participants must complete at least two-thirds of their certificate requirements through university coursework. Credit transfers or course substitutions require approval from the relevant academic office.
