Our institution boasts a distinguished legacy in training aspiring art educators, with numerous graduates successfully obtaining California teaching credentials after completing our BA in Art Plan I Visual Studies program. Countless educators throughout Southern California are proud alumni of our program, making meaningful impacts in their communities through diverse avenues.

The Visual Studies specialization within our newly redesigned BA in Art, BFA in Art, and BA in Art Plan I programs provides a vibrant blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. This prepares graduates to participate in public art initiatives while equipping them for K-12 art education careers.

This modern, interdisciplinary curriculum enables students to explore the relationships between artistic practice, teaching methodologies, community involvement, and social equity. The program develops professionals for roles in art instruction, arts management, community-based art projects, and socially-conscious artistic endeavors. It also lays the foundation for advanced studies in Art Education, Fine Arts, Social Practice, Art Therapy, and Arts Administration.

The curriculum prioritizes hands-on learning, intellectual exploration, teamwork, and artistic development. Students acquire practical experience through regional internship placements, including multiple on-campus opportunities.
